How To File A Grievance
Step 1
Seek Representation!
What to do if you believe a grievance needs to be filed:
Reach out to your Shop Steward, if you have one, and tell them about the situation.
Immediately call your union representative to start the grievance process.
DO NOT DELAY CALLING YOUR REP, AS GRIEVANCES NEED TO BE FILED PER CONTRACT TIMELINES!
The timelines for filing a grievance with each company are listed below. Please note that some companies have different requirements for Corrective Actions vs Discharge.
Step 2
Read Your Contract
Reading and understanding your contract is a vital part of the grievance process. While the union will lead the process, it’s important that you have also read your contract, so you can fully understand the steps being taken during the grievance process.
Step 3
Follow The Process
Once you have reached out to your rep, they will start the next steps of your grievance with our Lead Grievance Processor, Levi Eddins III. You will be kept up to date on the status of your grievance, but you can always reach out if you have questions.
